It’s mid-July and I’m injured.
“Try a different weight machine,” trainers said.
So, I did. Cue in the resulting tragedy. My hip to be exact. Perhaps, I should have used less weight or completed less repetitions. Regardless, I used the machine and felt nothing. Nothing, I tell you. The next morning my hips were sore. So, I warmed up with a mile. Once my friends arrived, we began on our 50-minute running journey.
The next day, however, I had to slide and partially roll out of bed. A regimen of heat, aspirin, and rest began.
The first week provided me with rest and I rescheduled my day to include double doses of writing, revising, and working on Word Bouquet. I’ve completed quite a bit due to my injury.
Now, I’m in my second week of resting and have magically gained three pounds. Big eye roll. As I was reading a text from friends, I unbuttoned that top button only to discover they were also injured and complaining about their ill-fitting shorts.
I have switched to elastic shorts until I can work out again. In the meantime, I have completed quite a bit of revision and business stuff.
Life has thrown me off course many times, but I look for those paths that can both serve me in the moment and long term.
If your writing is in the need of a new path, click on my contact page. Hopefully summer finds you writing and enjoying life; even if you need to unbutton that top button.
